DescriptionJOB OVERVIEW: The Compound Equipment Operator 1, is an
entry level role that will train in plastics blending to achieve
safety, quality, and efficiency requirements. Initial duties to
include but not limited to: packaging, package building, material
transportation, equipment cleanout, scales calibration and
loading/unloading trucksGENERAL REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma
or equivalent Must read, write, and speak English; Bilingual in
Spanish is a plus Must be able to stand and lift heavy loads for
long periods of time Operator must be able lift up to 45 lbs
Operator must be able to follow instructions Operator must be able
to interpret production orders Must be a Southwire certified lift
driver Any other job duties as assignedPRIMARY JOB TASKS: Operator
should be training to qualify in the operation, coordinating
several tasks in such a manner to maximize production while safely
maintaining specific rubber/plastic mix procedure and quality
Operator must learn to make judgements concerning quality and lab
results to rubber/plastics specifications Operator will learn to
interact with computer controls to operate machine/work cell
Operator will learn to interact with computer diagnostics to
pinpoint and eliminate various operating problems Operator will
learn to coordinate material handling, production with other
operators on the line to ensure a continuous production process
Operator will learn to maintain material levels for all levels of
operation Operator will be responsible for loading and unloading of
compounding raw materials and finished goods Must be able to work
under supervision and maintain ongoing communication with the
supervisor and peers through verbal instruction and reports
Identify scrap and place into designated scrap areasCROSS TRAINING:
Will be required to cross-train on equipment within your identified
workgroup at your facility Once trained in more complex jobs, may
be required to fill the position in the event of absence or vacancy
Will be required to rotate on a set frequency within your workgroup
to maintain skill proficiencyQUALITY: Use the company's ISO Quality
System documentation to help guide all daily quality activities Do
not release products until all quality checks have been passed
Immediately report quality issues to the supervisor, department
manager, or quality managerSAFETY: Working safely is a condition of
employment Responsible to observe Southwire safety rules and
maintain good housekeeping Follow all safety procedures and rules
Properly wear all required PPE Review and know all Job Hazard
Analyses for proper job sequence and hazards associated with the
jobs assigned to do Review and know all Safety Data Sheets for the
jobs assigned to do Maintain all work areas to 5S standards Perform
pre-operation safety inspection and hazard analysis Follow all
company environmental rules/procedures and handle all materials in
a manner designed to minimize environmental
impactPHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Physical activity associated
with daily performance of this job include: balance, climbing,
fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing,
reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, walking and
sitting Must be able to work in hot and cold environments normally
found in a prefabricated building without climate-control Operator
may be exposed to high levels of noise and a dusty environment
Operator may be exposed to gaseous lift fumes Operator may be
